A few days ago the provincial government, quietly and without providing access to the elected politicians accountable for their content, dropped the province’s 2022-23 Crown corporations’ annual reports.

When questioned, Saskatchewan’s Minister of Crown Investments Don Morgan released a statement to media on August 4th saying because byelections are currently underway, his government can’t conduct media events.

‘wE’Re NOt aLLoWEd TO hOLd MeDIa EVentS’

There are clear restrictions in the Saskatchewan Elections Act on both media covering and on an incumbent government praising itself during an election period… ie. exactly what CKOM state radio promoted by covering a politically-charged media event two days before Morgan said the government wasn’t allowed to hold media events.
