Tap tap.
Is this thing on?
Here we go again.
I scaled back and then quit my first blog, OurSask.ca, because the blowback was exhausting. After I started writing it in 2015, and throughout the years it was active, I endured relentless, misogynistic harassment and repeated reputation assassination-attempts from Sask Party-operatives, their local AM radio shill and Sask Party MLAs were fucking with my livelihood.
Not once did anyone from the Sask Party or the Government of Saskatchewan ever reach out to advise what I wrote was factually incorrect or request a correction - likely because I was never factually incorrect. I understood the assignment. Instead they pulled out harassment and bullying techniques that can only work as beautifully as they do in place like Saskatchewan, where our tiny population makes it nearly impossible to cope with or even survive those kinds of attacks.
Meanwhile, on the left you have Trent Wotherspoon, the biggest, sorest loser I’ve ever had to witness in my life, I swear to god, he never got over the fact that I endorsed my good friend Ryan Meili on oursask.ca, which some say put Ryan over the top for his marginal win. So, Wotherspoon and his gang of merry assholes did whatever they could to make it almost impossible for me to make any meaningful contribution to the Official Opposition, because sabotaging Meili’s success at every possible opportunity was their only goal.
With political enemies like that, can you blame the Sask Party for assuming they’ll be in power forever? They already know Carla Beck is just more of the same.
Anyway. Twitter was worse than blogging. What a dumpster fire and I have more than had enough. I’m definitely not the best version of myself, or even a good version, when I’m on it. It certainly wasn’t the right communications tool to go with over blogging in order to avoid harassment.
So, here we are. I’m going to go back to doing what I loved: well-researched commentary on the corrupt shenanigans plaguing this province. Yes, we’re going to talk a lot about the Sask Party government. But, we’re also going to talk about the Sask NDP and third party groups like labour unions - because there is more than enough shitty, cowardly and corrupt behaviour impacting Saskatchewan to analyze on all sides.
Admittedly, I’ve thought long and hard about whether there’s any point. I’ve had to battle back some serious resentment, because I feel like for years I busted my balls to show Saskatchewan that no, the Sask Party wasn’t the perfect government. In fact, I’d venture if more of you had cared or paid attention, you’d have been able to predict exactly the shitshow we ended up with when the pandemic struck. You’d have known that the moment governance had to be about more for the Sask Party than spending our resource dollars faster than they could suck them out of the ground, we’d be screwed.
I’ve turned the comments off because I don’t want to manage them. Or read them lol. Sorry, if you know me you know how to find me I’m happy to hear your thoughts but anyone anonymous can beat it. Easy peasy. This Substack will be a continuation of oursask.ca, but paywalled. If you can’t afford to subscribe, then please email me.
And yep, there’s going to be a podcast. Eventually.
Talk soon, Tam
