If you have lived in this easy-to-draw province for any amount of time, you know that in The Nineties the Saskatchewan NDP government closed 52 rural hospitals.

Thirty years later, the fiscal facts that led former-Minister of Finance Janice MacKinnon to make that difficult, necessary decision in her 1993 budget are no longer part of our provincial narrative. Instead, after drowning Saskatchewan in the 52 Hospital Mantra, repeating it thousands of times in various iterations in the Legislature, in the media and anywhere else they can wedge it in, the Sask Party has reduced that complex, troubling period in Saskatchewan history down to a political one-liner.
