“So what?” I hear you asking.

“Is the Premier not supposed to get a job after stepping down?”

Don’t be ridiculous.

Since stepping down as Alberta’s premier, Jason Kenney is a senior advisor at Teneo, a pretty standard, McKinsey-style consultancy. Christy Clark does the same thing at Bennett Jones.

Kathleen Wynne is a professor at the University of Toronto.

After leaving politics in 2009, Lorne Calvert became the principal of St Andrew’s College on the University of Saskatchewan campus.

The difference here is none of those former premiers appear to have manipulated their province while elected, in order to enrich themselves personally down the road.
