The Christian School Dumpster Fire Is Not Going Away
This one's going to be burning for a while.
The Sask Party’s failed Christian school experiment is becoming quite the saga, isn’t it?
First we learn Saskatoon’s Legacy Christian Academy is under investigation for dozens of allegation of physical abuse against former students. Then we learn other so-called Christian schools were donating students as child labour to the political campaigns of the likes of ultra-conservative former MPs like Maurice Vellacott, as well as other so far unnamed Saskatchewan politicians.
Today, predictably, the stories of sexual abuse emerge.
In fact, about the only thing that hasn’t emerged on this nightmare is accountability from the people who created it.
If only we could have seen this coming, right?
Like so many things in Saskatchewan right now, anyone paying attention would have seen this coming like a freight train.
Let’s be clear from the outset that the wealthy men who run these churches are deeply-tied to municipal, provincial and federal politicians as well as any number of other high-profile power brokers.
The undercurrents of fear and attempts being made to takeover the narrative behind the scenes, in an attempt to keep the Sask Party as clean as possible, are astounding.
