Why Does REAL's Tim Reid Still Have a Real Job?
This is not his first circus, but given he's on a taxpayer-funded salary and once again blaming the monkeys, it should be his last.
For a man facing a multi-million dollar class action lawsuit launched by his former staff that alleges he falsely, publicly accused them of wrongdoing, Tim Reid has a lot of nerve publicly blaming current staff at Regina Tourism for his latest fiasco.
I watched the “Experience Regina” debacle as it was playing out, but not closely. Given how much attention it got globally, I wanted to look again to try to understand how something like this happens in Saskatchewan in 2023.
The buck stops with two people, in my opinion: Regina Mayor Sandra Masters and Regina Exhibition Association Limited (REAL) District president and CEO Tim Reid.
Masters’ mayoral term is a dumpster fire. She’s been in the news pretty much non-stop lately, not for what she’s accomplishing for the City of Regina, but for the petty, immature drama that seems to have taken over its City Council under her leadership.
However I was more curious about Tim Reid, who arrived in Regina to take over the REAL District in 2018 after what some might categorize as a rather disastrous stint as CEO of Edmonton’s Northlands exhibition grounds and Rexall Centre.
Reid did an incredible job of taking responsibility for the Experience Regina mess without actually taking any responsibility at all. Buddy can talk out of at least four sides of his mouth at once; it’s really quite something.
