You know I believe in the power of truth and the necessity of holding our leaders accountable.
My written work in Saskatchewan is driven by a commitment to shine a light on the actions and policies of our provincial government under the increasingly troubled Saskatchewan Party.
Unfortunately, this commitment has not come without its significant challenges. Time and again, I have faced real persecution and intimidation from those who seek to silence my highly-critical, but I believe (and hopefully a few others do as well) necessary voice.
I’ve never pretended it didn’t get to me. It has been awful, truly.
So we are again with yet another threat from inside the Sask Party’s house, designed to curb my fundamental right of free expression and hinder my ability to speak Saskatchewan’s truth to power.
This is the Substack piece in question.
It’s 18 months old and we’re about to go into a brutal election campaign. More on that in a bit.
Everything I wrote in that piece is airtight, even if makes some people uncomfortable. It’s all publicly available information. I have every right to tell you about it and you have every right and more to know, given it’s your goddamn money.
I didn’t ask any of these Sask Party clowns to pull the bullshit they do, but I sure as hell will never stop talking about it. The beauty of all this is I learned how to do that from the very best in the province - Sask Party overlord, John Gormley.
I know exactly what I can and can’t write or say, down to the syllable. It was mentally beaten into my head, along with a whole bunch of other f**kery I’d rather forget.
So come at me. Again.
Cause this is not the first time these tactics have been employed against me.
In fact, I received that one a few weeks after publishing the piece about Brigden. In the above letter from Warsaba, she references my previous work on her cronies.
(Still waiting, Patty.)
This is not ever going to end. These people are scared and they work together.
But every time, through every damn attack, I have stood my ground, and with the support of my community, have managed to continue my work. Together, we have to resist further attempts to silence voices critical of our frightening, dangerous Sask Party government and ensure that the truth remains an unyielding force in our province.
The piece I wrote about Brigden is old. The timing doesn’t make sense - there’s a three month limit on civil action related to what he’s threatening. Brigden is deeply connected to the highest echelons of the Sask Party.
Further, this was sent it to me at a street address I’ve only been at for a few weeks. I own the property, but haven’t lived here for years, or even in the country.
They want me to know that they know where I am.
I suspect I’m supposed to more than a bit chilled.
I’m not. These people are freaks. They may be minted, but not because they’re smart.
What am I going to do now is what I didn’t do with Emsley, what I’ve never really done before - reply. I’m going to use a lawyer and not only invite Brigden to beat it, but explore my avenues for counteraction. I am not putting up with any more attempts from these fools to scare me.
If you’d like to help me with what I need to do next, your contribution, no matter how small, will go to paying my lawyer.
My etransfer address is tammyrobert0123@gmail.com - thank you so much.
I always feel so weird sending these out, but it’s the reality of how what I do works, I guess.
Honestly, it’s not just about me. I am not the only person in this province being harassed and intimidated by the Sask Party. Someone has got to fight back. We cannot continue to normalize this kind of oppression in Canada in 2024. Saskatchewan is too small for it to continue unchecked, because it’s really hurting people’s real lives.
Please consider standing with me. With your generosity, we can ensure that all critical voices in Saskatchewan are not just heard, but protected.
Thank you so much for your support and belief in the necessity of truth and accountability.
Your belief in me. I am so grateful for you.
Til next time,
Media and newsrooms in Saskatchewan cannot and are not getting you the information you need to live in a healthy democracy. If you’d like to support my work, including costs like the multiple subscriptions and accounts I need to access and purchase information provided in posts like this one, etransfers are gratefully accepted at tammyrobert0123@gmail.com.
Every dollar helps keep me and this work going.
Thank you.
P.S. If you would like to know more about my situation, please do not hesitate to reach out. Together, we’re better.
